The Boy Friend - by Sandy Wilson A Market Theatre production
The jazz age lives on in this light romantic spoof of a 1920’s musical comedy. Set in Madame Dubonnet’s Finishing School in Nice on the French Riviera, The Boy Friend is a sparkling tongue-in-cheek romp. Polly Browne, an English heiress, falls in love with Tony, a delivery boy. Conscious of her father’s warning to beware of boys dating her for her family’s money, Polly pretends to be just a secretary. Things get complicated with the unexpected arrival of Polly’s parents and Lord and Lady Brockhurst. It turns out that Lord and Lady Brockhurst are in fact Tony’s wealthy parents. Bursting with energy and fun, audiences will delight in the catchy tunes, period dances, and winning sense of humour. Join us for this charming musical extravaganza that turned Julie Andrews into an overnight sensation on Broadway.
Tickets £10 (£5 students) (also available from Info in Herefordshire in St. Katherines - tel:01432-383663).
