Two years ago, a handful of local musicians decided to introduce an open music session to the Oak Inn at Staplow. From small beginnings, the session grew to become a regular Sunday evening event, well attended by musicians and music lovers alike.

Largely acoustically-driven and drawing from the folk/blues/jazz/rock genres, one delightful aspect of the session is that the visitor can choose to sit among the musicians rather than before them, enabling real engagement with the process of live music-making; a truly immersive experience.

This Sunday 14th February, Valentine's day, marks the second anniversary of this successful weekly music session. It is anticipated that the pioneers and other regular contributors will be attending in full force to celebrate two years of live musical excellence at the Oak. Don't miss it - bring your Valentine!

Nobody could have asked for more last night as musicians, music lovers and valentine couples piled into The Oak for a memorable evening of music and fun. The floor looked like an explosion in a spaghetti factory as musicians eagerly added their kit to what was to become a giant, ad hoc, organic, anarchic PA system. Solo artists and bands abandoned their identities, joining forces to create a magical soundscape with no barriers. Had Simon Cowell been there he would have been speechless for once because he would have been completely out of his depth.
